Tyson's Wedding Networking Group

This past Monday we had the opportunity to hear from Shelby Tuck-Horton, Maryland State Coordinator for the Association of Bridal Consultants at the Tyson's Wedding Networking Group.  Shelby spoke to us on Raising the Bar in 2012 and setting goals in for our lives and our businesses.  Thanks Shelby!

Association of Bridal Consultants Annual Meeting 2011

The team just returned from the 2011 Association of Bridal Consultants annual meeting which took place this year at the beautiful Tremont Grand Hotel in Baltimore, Maryland.  We had an absolute blast networking with fellow wedding planners and attending seminars taught by members of ABC.

What do you enjoy most when working with a bridal couple?
I enjoy hearing their story; who they are individually and as a couple, how they met and what their future plans are together.

From where do you draw your inspiration?
My inspiration comes from having a desire to serve.  I want our couples to enjoy the process of the planning and not look back on it with regret. It’s a beautiful and exciting time in their lives and I come alongside of them and guide them, give them advice and execute those dreams to the smallest of details.

What advice do you have for brides and grooms who are in the throes of planning their wedding?

Venue Tour: Herrington on the Bay

I recently had the opportunity to tour Herrington on the Bay, a beautiful waterfront venue on the Chesapeake Bay and I wanted to share a few photos with you.  Herrington on the Bay offers two waterfront ceremony sites, pictured below, and three waterfront reception sites.  Herrington on the Bay is under an hour from downtown DC making it an ideal location for the busy DC couple who would like to have a destination beach wedding without the hassle of travel.

We are proud to be members of the Association of Bridal Consultants, the oldest and largest group of wedding professionals in the world.  As members of ABC, we go through extensive training and agree to uphold their Code of Ethics.

Code of Ethics:
Members will...

• Represent each client fairly and honestly, providing all agreed-to services in a timely and cost-efficient manner.
• Establish reasonable, proper fees for services and provide written estimates to each client.
• Use honest factual advertising.
• Deal with employees fairly, in an unbiased manner.
• Operate an establishment that is a credit to the Association and the community.
• Disclose to clients any payment received from suppliers.

Sandals Training

While at the ABC Virginia State Meeting, the entire Splash team had the opportunity to attend training to become Certified Sandals Specialists.  We learned all about their several gorgeous properties and about all the amenities they can offer couples on their honeymoon.  Their tag line is "The Luxury Included Vacation" and they are not kidding; every property is unique and stunning.
